This is me

I am Poonam Thakre, an esteemed fashion designer from Pune, with over two decades of experience in the Indian fashion industry. My journey began on the free-spirited, fun shores of Goa, where I graduated from St. Xavier College in 1998 before moving to Pune.

I embarked on my creative path with specialized courses in Fashion Design at the Arena Institute and Career Forum in Pune, where I earned the Best Designer award in 2000. My career then expanded through exhibitions across multiple Indian cities and a stint as a fashion instructor at IIT Goa until 2003.

The world of fashion and beauty welcomed me warmly, leading me to become a finalist in the GLADRAGS MRS. INDIA CONTEST. This experience was a profound immersion into the glamorous world of fashion, which I thoroughly loved and lived.

After this significant achievement, I led the fashion designing department at an export house named “KASHKHA” starting in 2012. Even today, my designs are sold globally in 16 different countries.

Having matured through the grandeur of fashion, I launched my own label in 2014. My commitment and passion were recognized when I received the Best Designer award from the prestigious Times of India in 2018.

One of the special highlights of my career was the prestigious DANCE AND FASHION SHOW in Germany, supported by the German government. This event was a grand showcase where I blended Indian Goddesses and Mythology with modern fashion. My designs are also featured in exquisite multi-designer stores across Germany.

My label's clothes have adorned celebrities like Sushmita Sen and Udita Goswami, among others. I live to see my clients wearing the gorgeous creations I design, drawing inspiration from rich cultural Indian elements and modern silhouettes. I have styled beautiful brides and grooms from various cultures, always believing that creativity and practicality should coexist, ensuring comfort while accentuating their personalities in stunning Indian, Indo-Western, and Western outfits.
